Safety at SitelogIQ – Zero Injuries On & Off the Job | SitelogIQ

According to the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), one in five worker fatalities in the private sector are in the construction industry. These deaths are mostly attributed to construction’s “fatal four” – falls, struck by object, electrocutions, and caught-in/between (when a worker is trapped or “caught” in equipment, objects or structures). At SitelogIQ, we don’t want to be a part of the statistics and continually focus on reducing injuries and correcting unsafe working conditions with a shared goal of zero injuries on and off the job.

As a full-service facility planning, design, and management company dedicated to creating healthy, efficient indoor environments and multi-unit living space, it is our responsibility to ensure our team members are practicing safety at all times, and our job sites and locations are safe environments for not only our team, but our customers and stakeholders as well. Our safety program, SafetyIQ, is designed to educate our team members and our subcontracting partners on safe practices to reduce and eliminate injuries.

Highlights include:

  • OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour Training
OSHA offers a 10-hour and 30-hour training course for the construction industry that focuses on health and safety awareness for supervisors and workers. The courses include training on fall prevention, excavations, scaffolding, concrete, masonry and more. At SitelogIQ, our project managers, superintendents, on-site construction managers, and foreman are all required to have OSHA 30-Hour Training within the last five years.
  • First Aid, CPR and AED Training
At SitelogIQ, we believe that first aid, CPR and AED training is not only important for our field staff, but for any member of the team that wants to be empowered to help others in an emergency situation. Each year, our divisions provide on-site training to our team in each of these areas.
  • Personal Protective Equipment
Personal protective equipment, or PPE, is clothing or gear that is designed to protect workers from injury. In construction, PPE includes hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, gloves, ear plugs or ear muffs, reflective vests, and work shoes such as steel-toed boots, among many others. All employees at SitelogIQ, regardless of their role at the company, are issued a hard hat, safety glasses, and ear protection on his or her first day.
  • Third-Party Safety Consultants
At SitelogIQ, we work in K-12 and higher education, local/state/federal government, commercial and industrial, healthcare, and multi-family housing. Throughout our history, we’ve learned continual feedback and learning is essential to ongoing safety. To help us do better, and learn how to improve, we engage with third-party safety consultants who help us identify and evaluate the safety of our projects and our job sites.
  • Weekly Safety Moments
Each week, important safety tips and best practices are sent to the entire SitelogIQ team as critical reminders of how to proactively keep both ourselves and our teammates safe during the work day, as well as family and friends when off-the-clock. Among others, topics have included ergonomics, noise protection, fall protection, parking lot safety, fire safety, and working in extreme temperatures.

To us, safety is more than just wearing a hard hat, or using proper equipment for the job. For us, safety is a collaborative effort where we are constantly identifying ways to work safer and smarter so that at the end of the day, the team – both yours and ours – goes home to their families. We look out for ourselves, and each other, to make safety a priority in our workday.  We are good teammates – we love our work and we love who we work alongside.
