Founded in 1921, the Hoffman Auto Group is regarded as one of the most respected, family-owned businesses in Connecticut. Hoffman Auto Group is comprised of 10 dealerships, 2 collision centers, and an insurance agency, offering 9 automotive brands, including electric vehicles (EVs). In order to make their locations more accommodating to both potential and existing EV drivers and ensure that they uphold compliance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) requirements, Hoffman Auto Group partnered with SitelogIQ to install EV charging stations across its multiple locations, including East Hartford, West Simsbury, and New London.
With a goal to install both Level 2 and Level 3 charging stations for 6 OEMs, this project required a thorough understanding of each OEMs’ program and their requirements. Not only did Hoffman Auto Group want to ensure that they correctly met all requirements and mandates, they also wanted to set a standard for EV charging infrastructure across their locations. That’s where SitelogIQ came in.
Having upgraded 800+ dealerships nationally to date, SitelogIQ has earned endorsements from major automotive OEMs. Our experience and ability to develop a company-wide rollout of EV charging infrastructure while maintaining brand bias made us a perfect partner for Hoffman Auto Group. SitelogIQ’s experts have a deep knowledge and understanding of various OEM programs and ensured that all requirements and customer expectations were met, from initial design to installation.
Hoffman selected 7 priority locations for EV charging installation, including 18 Level 2 and 14 Level 3 charging stations, totaling 32 charging ports. This required the need to bring in new utility services to power the stations. SitelogIQ worked closely with the utility companies to manage the process, including the request for service, design, and drawings, permitting, and navigating schedules for the delivery and installation of transformers. Throughout each step, SitelogIQ coordinated the activity with the customer to provide peace of mind and help minimize disruptions to their daily operations.
In addition, SitelogIQ’s funding experts notified Hoffman Auto Group about a potential funding opportunity and helped them compile and submit an application. Hoffman Auto Group was awarded an EverSource Utility Rebate for $1,770,000, which covered more than half the cost of the total project.
This project not only helped Hoffman Auto Group provide a better customer experience and improve their operational and energy efficiency, it has also had a positive impact on the communities they serve. With limited EV charging infrastructure available for local drivers, Hoffman Auto Group’s charging stations helps to serve individuals in their local communities and promotes greener and more sustainable environments.
With a total of 32 ports installed, it’s estimated that the stations can service over 88,000 vehicles per year, helping reduce carbon emissions by 7,179 metric tons.
