Peters Township School District

The Challenge

Peters Township School District is a large, suburban school district in Washington County, PA. The District experienced a 20% increase in population between 2000 and 2010, which added strain on the infrastructure of the aging high school. In addition to the wear and tear of the increase in students, most of the building systems in the existing high school were approaching the end of their useful life. District administrators were faced with a decision—renovate the existing high school or build a new facility.

The Solution

District administrators decided to build a new facility to accommodate future growth at Peters Township. The new 294,000-square-foot facility features a 2,000-seat auditorium, a 14,000-square-foot natatorium, a new gym, and auxiliary gym, a grass practice field, and an AstroTurf field. The school will exceed the size of the current high school by about 60,000 square feet and include 10 additional classrooms. The District also identified a need for a comprehensive facility improvement plan that would allow the current high school to transition into the new middle school. SitelogIQ was hired to complete an Enhanced District Option Study (EDOS) to provide an educational and functional needs assessment in addition to a facility physical needs assessment. The results provided the District with priority items to address and developed a plan to execute programming changes, facility infrastructure, and improved building security through a performance contract. SitelogIQ worked with the Peters Township School District and its stakeholders to support the District’s comprehensive plan. SitelogIQ has implemented programming changes, enhanced building security and architectural finishes, and improved indoor air quality.
